Update 6 – Speed and Performance Over Cosmetics

Made big sacrifices to improve speed and performance of the website.
We received help from a page speed and networking guru who pointed us in the right direction. There were a few tough decisions to make but they had to be done at least for now. We removed BuddyPress (which was the social side of things), Multiple Thumbnail Image Slider and some other functions that literally no one used. Most of them were poorly coded and did not work well with the website, causing incredibly slow page loading and CPU overloads. Sometimes even causing the website to shut down.
Our community is getting bigger and bigger with over 250 000 visitors a month, so we need to make sure the website is faster and faster. We still have a few tweaks to brush through but we’re confident we’ll be finished with the speed optimization by the end of the month. Once that is done, we can focus on slowly bringing back some of the options that were removed, this time however, coding will be a lot more efficient. For one, the image slider will no longer work by bullets, it will slide thumbnails automatically once hovered over. There will be a much lighter version of the social platform, allowing users to communicate as well as receive important notifications.

- All Account options such as Settings, Subscriptions and Invoices are now placed in the footer of the website.
- Fixed Password Reset Page
- Home page sidebar has been modified to include “Most Liked Videos This Week” and “Most Viewed Videos This Week”.
- Opened a new Photo Category Called Dolls and Teddies
- Opened a new Video Category called Dolls and Teddies
- Opened a new Video Category called POV
- Videos no longer start automatically
